All the Second Life residents can choose to have their own jobs which are a very good mean for them to make themselves well known to other residents, and at the same time, the good jobs can bring them a wealth of money, as well. Because of these cogent reasons, choosing jobs will also have a huge impact in your future in the game.
In general, Second Life is pretty much like an MMORPG in that you must have skills to get a job or make a living in Sl, but, unlike MMORPGs as the skills you must have are your own! As of now, there are four types of SL job comprising of Unskilled Jobs, Skilled Jobs, Freelancers and Enterpreneurs, and Unclassified Jobs.
Unskilled Jobs are works that do not require you to have any "outside" skills ror proficiencies to be hired. Unsurprisingly, there are not many Unskilled Jobs around in the virtual world of SL, so they do not pay you so well.
For Skilled Jobs, they are divided into two types that are "classical skilled jobs" which allows you make use of one of your RL skills directly towards an activity in SL, and free-lancers/business owners, where you utilize other necessary skills, that are not relateed directly to SL, but which can be used successfully to yield a steady income for you.
The third type of job in SL is called Freelancers and Enterpreneurs concentrating on using skills which are not directly related to things in-world, but they can be astonishingly used to help you make a living.
And finally, Unclassified Jobs other SL jobs are not clearly defined. For example, people who prctice these Unclassified Jobs include those using their advertising or marketing skills in-world. Lawyers and economists can also be included in this type of SL job as wel.
